welcome, new visitors

There isn't much fanfare for the new crop of visitors who have come in this month, but what they encounter is quite wondrous. Is it a cruise ship? Is it a hotel? Is it a tiny planet? No one can give them a straight answer, but all are encouraged to take part in the buffet, where visitors may find an assortment of foods both familiar and unfamiliar to them. There is an open mic night happening in one of the lounges on site, featuring staff and visitor performances. Or there are a handful of shops to browse if you're amenable to trading.
Visitors will find that the Hotel Multiverse at the Edge of the Cosmos between Canons (its official name) is very much alive beyond the bustling crowd. In fact, it might just be listening to you and anticipating your needs.
As for the rest? Well, that's up to you. You may as well socialize, right?

( she purses her lips thoughtfully, tapping them with a spoon. )
I have seen people put gummy worms on their sundaes but I've never known how to pair them and for which flavors. So if you'd indulge me, I'd love to see what you do with them. ( elsa laughs behind her hand, sheepish. )
I am new to the world of ice cream customization. Arendelle is not as advanced as this place.

[ he's not going to ask about arendelle, at least not yet, not when he has a mission to accept and honestly, that could be the name of another resort. are there more like this? tbh it sounds like the food is garbage.
apparently, he's not going to introduce himself, either. cooper lowers his hand and gestures to the buffet again, silently gesturing for her to follow him.
he isn't, however, expecting the ice cream station to be this large. he faces the soft serve machine and its three levers as though it's the most formidable enemy he's encountered in recent years. which isn't too far from the truth, speaking linearly. ]
What you need to know is that your first choices? Change the course of everything. The flavor you choose will lock you into a limited number of options. [ do u understand the responsibility here?
cooper grabs a bowl, turns back to the machine. one lever only tells the truth, one lever only tells lies. it's all very dramatic.
cooper didn't come to play. he goes for swirl. ]

her smile slowly fades into a serious expression once she joins him at the ice cream station and nods solemnly. )
Yes. Of course.
( with standard elsa trickery, her own bowl of double chocolate ice cream is very much intact and she pushes it forward on the tray to reduce any future crumb loss. )
Would ... perhaps granola be nice?
no subject
she makes her suggestion, and he points a finger at her, nodding. ]
Fantastic instinct. You're a natural. [ he's genuinely proud!!! and he takes a scoop of granola for himself. ]
For you, especially, you need to account for the richness of the chocolate. Rules a lot of this out. Fruit? Generally a safe bet. I always say, start with Oreos, and go from there.
no subject
Oreos, yes. ( she has had her eyes opened to the wonders of oreos, the many ways that one can consume them. these are conveniently crumbled and she deposits a hefty tablespoon over her ice cream. )
I think strawberries would be nice. The tartness balances the sweet of the chocolate.
no subject
strawberries, cooper approves of. so much that he will politely scoop some onto her bowl for her. meanwhile, he's on a search of his own, eyes eagerly scanning for — there!
is he taking too many gummy worms for his ice cream? yes. there is zero regard to how well this will go with granola.
and then he's going rogue, grabbing another bowl beneath the line, and filling that with more gummy worms.
he's fine.
as though this is regular behavior, he puts the tongs back in their place and asks: ] See anything else?
no subject
encouraged by her new friend, she sprinkles even more oreos on top of her ice cream.
it's beautiful bowl. she thinks it's ready for consumption. )
I think I just needed the extra oreos. Are you ready to dig in?
no subject
I believe so. [ he's got half a mind to clink ice cream bowls with her, but, no, he knows how to maintain a little bit of decorum. besides, if he's serious about scoping this place out for a bureau party, he needs to act like it. they make their way back to their tables, and once his ice cream is situated, cooper:
1) notices that below his toppings, the soft serve is already liquefying, as is normal.
2) reconciles this with the tidbit about his ice cream companion's pristine dessert.
3) approaches her, because he can't make any kind of guess without actually introducing yourself. ]
While I appreciate you joining me, I've been terribly rude. [ he extends a hand. ] Dale Cooper, FBI. Think we're all a little surprised right now.
no subject
Dale Cooper, FBI. It's a pleasure to meet you. ( she extends her hand across the table. it's ungloved so it feels a little improper as a royal, but it's not like she showed up in her tour regalia. ) I'm Queen Elsa of Arendelle.
( pardon the cold touch. )
no subject
Forgive me — I have a direct question that may not be fitting for royalty, but without getting into details, I'm somewhat out of the loop when it comes to technology. Your ice cream looks untouched. Normally, given the ambient temperature in a room like this, it should start to melt within moments, but yours doesn't.
[ cooper is entirely too excited when he asks: ]
Is there a refrigeration pad nearby?
no subject
( she looks a little embarrassed. the little things she does for peak ice cream consumption aren't just second nature - they're entirely in her nature. slowly, a smile creeps over her features and she wiggles her fingers in a way one could only describe as elegant. each fingertip draws a little circle as she summons snowflakes from the air, reaching across the table to lightly touch agent cooper's bowl of ice cream.
suddenly the bowl has a thin sheet of snow covering it, the meal on top still in tact. )
No, that was all me!
no subject
also, it's giving bewitched. he loved bewitched.
he sits there for a moment, grin spread across his face, letting all of that just settle before turning back to her. ]
Where did you say you were from?
no subject
her touch is cold but her smile is warm when she watches cooper gaze up at the snowflakes. )
The Kingdom of Arendelle is where I'm from. I'm not sure what your world is like, but my good friend likened it to a country called Norway.
no subject
I'm familiar with Norway.
[ but then. "likened" is different. and there doesn't seem to be a large group partying because they're pumped about destroying space resources to build space property. we can't possibly be there in the timeline yet.
maybe if he just asks for, like, no after-hours folk song karaoke in the common areas, right?
cooper allows himself a couple of gummy worms while he lets the snowflakes collect on his ice cream. extra toppings!!!! snow ice cream is special!!!!! ]
If it means anything, I can certainly confirm I've never seen anything like that in America, Canada, or Mexico. [ he's not going to mention the lodge, of course, but the thought does strike him that perhaps he's not the only thing that got out — for whatever reason.
noted: he doesn't remember check-in. also noted: he can't change the vibe, but he needs to know if she does. ]
I didn't realize they let queens go on vacation. [ ok weird but could be worse. ]
no subject
( she laughed. nervously. she doesn't think that. they did assure her that time was on a pause. the elsa before wouldn't have believed that for a minute, but when you spend a few weeks in storybrooke, maine, you start changing your tune. )
My sister, Princess Anna, is very capable even if she seems a bit frivolous. She would know what to do in my absence. Arendelle is a special place and she would be able to protect it.
( elsa takes a thoughtful, heaping spoonful of her sundae, closing her eyes happily and bobbing her shoulders a few times. )
Agent Cooper, where are you from? Are you anywhere near Maine? I've only ever visited that state.
no subject
at her question, he shakes his head. ]
Born in Philly, but never did much traveling on the East Coast. [ he, too, digs into his ice cream. wild that she seems to know at least one of the states while? not being? from? this world? ] Where's Arendelle in relation to Maine?
no subject
( she knows that reference! sort of! there is only so much you can process when you're transported to another realm and are constantly hounded by whatever evils are seeking revenge that month. or something. )
Oh, Arendelle is ... ( elsa doesn't quite know how to break it to him. it isn't an easy concept to explain to anyone, skeptics and believers alike. )
Well, I entered through a portal. Similar to how we arrived here, I suppose.
